Power Out and the HIFF

So if you went to our show at Detox this weekend you would have witnessed us play a couple of songs, then you would have seen the amp blow out, watch us scramble to fix it, then end our set early.

I'd personally like to apologize for having to call it quits early but if you feel like you were short changed at our last show, make it a point to come out to the next show we have on Tuesday. We're playing a show at Next Door downtown. But that's only half the story.

Before we play at Next Door, there's a Honolulu International Film Festival (HIFF) thing going on in Next Door. It's called "Festival Video Ipod." Anyway, they're going to show music videos from all around asia and hawaii. Should be cool and I think it's only $5. Come early for the films, stay late for the real deal.

And while I'm talking about the film festival, here are the films that I want to see:

hello?

Apt

Chopsticks

Dog Bite Dog

Enemy

First Love

Folklore Restaurant

I'll Call You

Isabella

Made of Music - The Story of John Cruz

Memories of Matsuko

Nightmare Detective

Paprika

But the best film out of all of those looks like it's going to be "Yo Yo Girl Cop."

Anderson Le wrote, "An undercover police detective embedded in a private school is blown to pieces in Shibuya. The detective had been investigating a popular underground website called Enola Gay, an anonymous blog with an ominous counter, ticking down toward an unknown event. Cue in a young girl from New York's mean streets who is arrested and transferred to Japan, at the behest of the Tokyo Police Force. Only a hardened girl with killer instincts can infiltrate this vile plot. Assigned the codename, Asamiya Saki, she's put in a schoolgirl uniform and given her secret weapon - a yo-yo of insurmountable power!

Based on the manga, YO YO GIRL COP spawned the trend for schoolgirl detectives using an everyday device as a weapon or investigative tool (CELLPHONE GIRL COP is a popular TV series). Starring J-idol Aya Matsuura and featuring a few Morning Musume as the baddies - it's an otaku fever dream on the big screen!"

Here's the trailer:

See you on Tuesday at Next Door!
