Speeding Tickets in February? - Fact or Fiction?

-----Original Message-----
Subject: FW: Not sure if this is true or not, but...

Got this from a friend. Thought I'd pass it along. Please beware!

On February 1, the City and County of Honolulu will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The city estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay police overtime. There will be 50 police on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main thoroughfares.

They are the following:
H-3 both directions
H-2 both directions
H-1 both directions
Pali Hwy
Likelike Hwy
Nimitz Hwy
Kalanianaole Hwy
Kam Hwy
Farrington Hwy

Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every officer is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time.

"Crazy Beck"

I've haven't been listening to Beck that much lately but I do like the newest album. Check out this video of a live performance on a German tv show it's great! Kind of like the opening band at the Sigur Ros show... I especially like how the waiter walks over all nonchalant and pours the band some wine in the beginning. And then when you think it couldn't get any better in the dinner-party-plate-circle, the waiter serves some salad, removes some plates, and then claps along. GENIUS!

But that's not all. After watching the video I decided to check out Beck.com, the official beck site. The site was good before but now it's all in flash! It's been completely redone and it looks great. Now I suddenly want to find my copy of "One Foot in the Grave."

Linus will be touring the West Coast in 2006!

We've been talking about a tour for a long time now. Now we're doing it. We are planning to play a series of shows on the west coast later this year. The cities we've talked about visiting so far are Seattle, Olympia, San Francisco, and LA. Although we know some people in those places, we are not set on any cities for sure just yet. I just wanted to post the news while it's fresh. I'll post more info later.

290 Songs!

I was moving all of the linus stuff onto a single playlist on my ipod and I saw just how many song snippets and ideas i recorded in 2005.... 290 half formed ideas! holy shit, we need to sift and sort, then record the result. 290! We finally played a show with Shoko Kono at Detox and they were great! I'm glad it was downstairs. Thanks everyone who showed up and stuck around for our set.

Brunch and the Honolulu Advertiser

I went out for brunch and browsed Island Life in the Honolulu Advertiser. What do I see? A picture of "The Construction" CD cover!!! Check out LinusTheBand's "The Construction" CD Review here!!!!

It was a pleasant surprise to read a review in the paper without prior notification. Thank you Wayne Harada for recognizing us and the efforts placed to master the "The Construction."

2006

Starting out fresh. Sequencing simple beats in
Reason and importing into audition to orchestrate a song called "Free Range." 2005 was a crazy year for Linus. A sobering year of planning. I don't want to make any predictions, for Linus in 2006 (who know's what could happen this year) but I do want to say that we're in the studio right now working on something new. All I want from 2006 is progress. And 50 new songs wouldn't hurt either.
