One last show before we leave on tour...

We're playing a live set as part of a 5 band show tonight at Detox. This'll be the last show we play before we leave on tour so, if you haven't quite had your fill yet, we play at 11pm.

This show will feature: Sedated Nation, Pocket Hero, Supersonic Space Monkeys, LINUS!, and Shunga.

We're leaving for the tour next week.

Alright, we have pretty much everything set for the tour. Working out some last minute details about what to pack and what to ship. Danmerle just about finalized the tour dates (we'll post those on the website soon). It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I'll be posting photos from the road right here while we're on tour...

Does anyone have a hardshell case for a synthesizer of a hard case for a set of cymbals?

We're leaving for our trip soon and in all of the organizing and planning we left out one small detail.... "How are we going to get all of our gear to the west coast?" Well we have it a little more well planned than that. When we take our gear to shows in Hawaii we don't need to carry them in hard cases. But, now that we can't hand carry our instruments on the plane, we need to check them in as baggage. The two guitars already have hard shell cases but we need to take the synthesizer and a set of cymbals. So here's what I'm asking...

If anyone knows someone with a hard shell case for a synthesizer or someone who has a hard shell case for a set of cymbals that we could borrow or even rent for 2 weeks, please email me at david@linustheband.com

Thanks!

Show tonight at Detox 10pm

Detox is at 1192 Alakea St. This show has 6 bands lined up and ready to play. It's open to ages 16 and over and I think it'll cost 5 dollars. See you there!

I take that back about the show

We're playing two shows this weekend. One on Friday and one on Saturday. Both shows are at Detox on Alakea St. downtown. The show on friday sounds like it's a ton of new bands so I'm pretty excited about that. I think we're playing around 10 or something. The show on Saturday is Harrison's last show in Hawaii before they relocate to Seattle. Both shows are probably 5 bucks but don't quote me on that. They usually are right? Either way, we're playing a couple of new songs that we've been working on exclusively for the past month at practices and evidenced in the numerous mp3s we've been passing back and forth.

Well either way, try to make it to one of the shows this weekend. See you there!

EDIT: And I just noticed, on the shows page, that both shows are 16 and over. I have a feeling that this is going to be a good show with a lot of energy. Don't miss this one.

But I keep going back to Reason 3.0

I used to have a copy of reason 2.5 but I lost the CD of samples and now the program won't even load. Thanks for the help JeFREE but I think that rather than track down a used QY70, I'm going to try to track down a used copy of Reason 3.0 on ebay.

I like the fact that I can trigger samples that I created. I don't think that the QY70 allows you to record to it, you can only arrange stuff on it right? I read that it eats batteries too.

Does anyone have Cubase? I know I have a working copy of that, does that have a decent drum sequencer on it? Maybe, but I'll keep checking ebay for a copy of Reason till someone tells me different.

The Yamaha QY70 Digital Sampler

For those of you who have been wondering what we're talking about here's a photo of the Yamaha QY70:

Practice Tonight: Practicing 2 new songs

Tonight we're practicing again. We only practice for 2 hours every week. I wish we could do more but it's just too expensive. I want to buy a drum machine, not drum software for the computer; I want something that can run on batteries that I can fit into my backpack so I can carry it around with me. Honestly, I haven't done any research on the hardware out there, but I'm all ears if anyone has any experience with drum machines.

I'm pretty sure it was in an interview with like glass... Block party, that's right. In an interview in what I think was an article in Fader magazine, they profiled the singer and asked him how they wrote their songs. He had said, they always start with the beat. I think that's where we're headed. Plus I feel bad making stan play the same beat for 30 minutes straight. Sorry Stan. What would you all think if we started using electronic beats and samples? I'm thinking about it. Remember our first show in the garage of someone's house?

Anyway, I'll end my rant with photos of the drum machines I'm thinking about purchasing. If you know about drum machines, email me and maybe I won't end up getting something that sucks. Thanks!
